Ridge wraps up season at invitational
The Ridge track team wrapped up their season at the GMC invitational in
Extras
Middletown. Overall Ridge had a great showing and finished fifth out of 16
teams competing. Individual and team results:100m hurdles, Akili Barnes
came in second and Laurel Hattix came in seventh; in the 1600m, with two
personal best times, Rebecca Frederick finishing fifth with a time of 5:47,
and Abby Sippola placing 12th with a time of 6:11; in the 400m, Akili Barnes
placed fourth and Yasmin Moftakhar placed seventh, the 800m relay took
seventh place. In the 200m hurdles, Laurel Hattix came in third and Akili
Barnes finished in second; in the 200m, Emily Lessig took fifth, and the
1600m relay team came in fourth.
Mount Notre Dame offers Softball Camp
Mount Notre Dame Softball head coach, Jackie Cornelius, and her staff will be conducting the Cougar Softball Skills Camp. The camp will be run by current and former College and Professional players and coaches, ensuring that each camper receives the highest quality instruction available in the area.
The camp will focus on all areas of Fastpitch. Offensive skills to be covered include hitting, bunting, slapping, base running. Defensive areas will focus on both infield and outfield skills. Special drills for pitchers and catchers will also be available.
The Camp will be held at Mount Notre Dame High School on June 9-10. Cost includes a camp T-shirt.
Session One is for those girls entering grades 3-6 in the fall, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Session Two is for those girls entering grades 7-12 in the fall, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Cincinnati Baseball school announces its 21st annual summer camp season for baseball and fastpitch softball at the Piasgah Youth Organization fields on Reading Rd./State route 42 in West Chester Twp. Cincinnati United Soccer holding tryouts
The new Cincinnati United Soccer Club will be holding tryouts from May 18 to June 8. Cincinnati United has been created from the merger of Lakota United, Sycamore Arsenal and Cincinnati United Premier (CUP), in conjunction with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. Cincinnati United is the only area affiliate of the Crew. Tryouts will be held for all Competitive levels, inclusive of ages U8 to U18. Premier (CUP) tryouts will be held for the ages of U11 to U18. Lakota West plans Wrestling Camp
This year's Wrestling Camp will take place June 16-19. Coach Fetzer will be hosting the camp at the Firebird wrestling facility at Lakota West High School. There will be two sessions; grade 2-6 from 10 a.m. to noon and grades 7-12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost for camp is $50 for the first session and $80 for the second session. There is a family cap built into the final cost. All campers will receive individualized instruction from the Firebird coaching staff as well as a camp T-shirt.
This camp is designed to provide each wrestler with instruction in wrestling fundamentals and advanced techniques. Coach Fetzer and his staff will serve as camp counselors and instructors. Guest clinicians include Scott Hinkle, Head Coach at Purdue University and Jake Persival, 4 time NCAA All-American.
Current college wrestlers on hand will be Tony Bradberry, Ashland
University; Bo Touris, Ohio State University; Zach Flake, Campbellsville; Rick Weatherholt, Heidelberg; and Ryan Fields, UNC Greensboro. Additional
clinicians will be added to the camp staff. Current and former members of the Firebird wrestling team will be participating in all sessions.

Lakota West district football meeting set for players
The Lakota West district football meeting for players in next year's grades
7 to 12 will be at 6:30 p.m. May 27 in the Lakota West High School gym. Coaches from Plains Junior High, Ridge Junior High, Lakota West Freshman School and Lakota West High School will be on hand to distribute summer calendars and other vital information to help make the 2008 football season the best ever. Mason Boys Lacrosse Boosters to host camp
Mason High School Boys Lacrosse Boosters will hold their first Boys Lacrosse Camp from June 9 to 11. Boys entering grades 3-5 will check in at 4:15 p.m. with camp beginning at 4:30 and ending at 6 p.m. Boys entering grades 6-9 will check in at 6 p.m. with camp beginning at 6:15 and concluding at 7:45 p.m. There will be a youth coaches clinic each day from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Cost per camper is $40. MHS Varsity Coach Randy Hubbard, his coaches and current and alumni players will conduct the instruction during the three day camp. Boys basketball camp organized
An all-day boys basketball camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7-10 at Sycamore High School.
The camp will feature instruction from the best high school coaches in the Greater Cincinnati area. Daily activities include fundamental skill instruction, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 team play, games and contests. Each participant receives a camp T-shirt, basketball and 24 hours of expert instruction.

Lakota West girls hoops camp
Lakota West High School's girls basketball Camp of Champions will be held this summer. Camp for players entering grades two through six will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 23-26. Camp for players entering grades seven through nine will take place from 12:45 to 4 p.m. June 23-26.
The Firebird hoops camp boosts an 8:1 coach to camper ratio and competitive levels for all players. Two separate sessions allow for competitive groupings of players. Instructional coaching will take place using 26 baskets to guarantee repetitions to teach and practice skills.

at Kings High School
Northern Cincinnati Basketball will be hosting summer instructional camps with an emphasis on learning fundamentals and self-improvement drills. Its shooting camp is the only shooting camp in Cincinnati. Shooting technique, drills and shooting workouts will be emphasized at the camp, which is completely staffed by adult coaches.

Lakota East will be offering boys summer camps that will place an emphasis on offensive fundamentals. Camps will help players improve their shooting, passing and dribbling skills.

AIA hosts Olympic gold medalist
Athletes in Action will host a softball camp with three-time Olympic gold medalist Leah O'Brien Amico on May 9-10 at the AIA headquarters in Xenia. Amico also will be accompanied by her University of Arizona teammate Teresa Demeter.
The overnight camp will teach middle-school and high school-aged girls various softball skills while emphasizing a spiritual message. Participants will learn about the value of teamwork on and off the field, and how to build spiritual movements through the sport.
The camp will be held at AIA's first-class World Training and Resource Center. The facilities include seven outdoor NCAA regulation-sized fields, a high and low challenge course, four dormitories, a retreat center and a dining hall.

ATP events seek audit runners
Volunteer help is needed for the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters men's and women's tournaments in Mason. Volunteering requires 20 to 30 hours over the course of the men's tournament, July 25 through Aug. 3; and the women's tournament, Aug. 9-17.

Nike Tennis Camp changes location
After seven successful years at Miami University, Nike Tennis Camp will be moving to Ohio University in Athens. The Nike Tennis Camp will run for four weeks during the summer: June 15-20, June 21-26, July 13-18 and July 19-24.
Nike Tennis Camp at Ohio University will offer both overnight and extended day programs for boys and girls ages 9-18 of all ability levels.

The PGA of America has announced that the 33rd Junior PGA Championship will be contested Aug. 13-16 at the PGA Tour's TPC River's Bend in Maineville.
"Our club wants to host the biggest and best," said Chris Wood, a PGA professional and general manager and director of golf at TPC River's Bend. "Anytime a club and its members are able to host an event like this, it is nothing short of great."

Mason youth summer camps back
Mason High School football coach David Sedmak is hosting summer youth football camps at Mason Middle School.
The first session is 9 a.m. to noon July 7-9 for those entering grades two through six in the 2008-09 school year. Cost is $60 per camper, with discounts for multiple campers from the same family.
The second session is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21-23 for those entering grades seven through nine in the 2008-09 school year. Cost is $90 per camper, with discounts for multiple campers from the same family.
Coach Sedmak is in his 18th season as a football coach. His football teams have won 124 games, while losing only 55 against many of the top teams in Ohio. West girls golf team hosting golf camp
The Lakota West girls golf team is hosting a four-day golf camp that will be open to boys and girls entering grades four through eight.
During the week of camp, campers will practice golfing techniques, perform drills and compete in skill competitions from 8 to 11:30 a.m. June 10-12 at the Four Bridges Golf Academy. Cost for golf camp is $100 before May 31 and $110 after.

East to host annual Thunderhawk Camp
Lakota East High School will be holding its annual Thunderhawk Wrestling Camp from June 16-19.
Session I will be for ages 6 through sixth grade and will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily at a cost of $60.
Session II will be for students entering grades seven through 12 and will run from 1 to 4 p.m. daily at a cost of $85.
There is a family cap of $120. This year's camp will feature many clinicians including World Medalist/NCAA Champion Joe Heskett.
