MU golfers seventh after third round

NASHPORT — After three rounds at the Mid-American Conference Championships at Longaberger Golf Club, Miami University's golf team sits in a tie for seventh place heading into the final round of the three-day, 72-hole tournament today, May 4.

Freshman Michael Drobnick paced the RedHawks in the third round Saturday, carding a 75 for the day. He sits in a tie for 18th place at 10-over-par 226.

Freshman Nathan Sutherland leads MU in a tie for 12th place at 7-over-par 223. After firing a 73 and a 72 in the first two rounds, respectively, Sutherland carded a 78 in the third round.

Edgewood grads help MUH to wins

HAMILTON — Sarah Pressler and Kelsey McWhorter, two Edgewood High School graduates, helped lead the Miami University Hamilton softball team to four wins on Saturday, May 3.

MUH (7-5) defeated Ohio University-Zanesville by scores of 4-2 and 4-1, then beat Miami University Middletown 9-1 and 11-1 for a four-game sweep of the two Ohio Regional Campus Conference teams.

MUH moved into third place in the ORCC and will begin the league championship tournament Friday at Tealtown Park.

MUM golfers 5th in two tournaments

The Miami University Middletown men's golf team placed fifth in tournaments held at the Hamilton Elks and Weatherwax golf courses this weekend. The ThunderHawks were led by Brian Lawson with an 82 in the tournament Friday, May 2, and by Zach Harvey with a 75 on Saturday.

MUM concluded the regular season with a second-place finish in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference and will compete in the state tournament next weekend.
