Mason custodial staff demands contract at rally

The custodial staff of Mason school marched on Mason High School today, May 16, demanding contracts for all employees of the school system.

Local 070, the union of grounds keepers, custodians, and maintenance staff for the Mason City Schools marched down Mason-Montgomery Road to bring notice and support to their cause.

A loud rally cry could be heard as the large procession advanced, chanting "What do we want? Contracts! When do we want it? Now!" Passing motorists blew their horns in solidarity, garnering cheers of approval from the rally.

The rally began at Corwin-Nixon Park at 11 a.m. The group then moved to Mason High School and ended at the Mason Municipal Building.

Union representative Derryl Hall said that Local 070 had garnded support from unions across the state.
