Wallenda walk rescheduled for 5 p.m.

By Marie Rossiter

Staff Writer

Friday, July 04, 2008

Rick Wallenda's first high wire walk originally scheduled for 2 p.m. today, July 4 at King's Island Amusement Park has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. due to weather conditions. A second walk is still going on as scheduled at 7 p.m. at the park.

The first walk will run about 1,000 feet from the Eiffel Tower, over the Royal Fountains to the flag pole near the main entrance. The second walk, measuring 2,000 feet, will be 200 feet more than the record-breaking walk taken by his grandfather, Karl Wallenda, in 1974 at Kings Island.

No safety nets or harnesses will be used by Wallenda on either of his skywalks—which is the only way a Wallenda will perform.

Park officials reported that the fireworks show presented by Rozzi Fireworks will go on, as scheduled, at 10 p.m.
