School hosts Annual Tri-State Inter Islamic School Day
More than 600 visitors from 19 Islamic schools of surrounding cities are scheduled to visit the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, and participate in a two-day Annual Tri-State Inter Islamic School Day. The event will be the sixth time that such a program will be held on a very large scale. The program is aimed at bringing Muslims of different areas, especially youth, and of various Islamic schools to interact with each other and to derive encouragement from each other.

The two main components of the event include a basketball tournament and a Quran Recitation Competition. Champion teams receive trophies, individual medals and certificates.
Since its inception in 2001, the program has grown to include 23 basketball teams, 99 entrants in the Quranic Recitation competition and hundreds of volunteers. The event is open to the public and is free of charge.

Farm's open house features free burgers, hay ride
A Liberty Twp. business plans to show its customers where the beef is during an open house from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18.
Located at 5850 Princeton Road, Grassland Grange Grass-Fed Beef will offer free sample hamburgers, a hay ride, baby chicks and a miniature donkey for children to pet. The family-owned business also will offer information on the health benefits of locally raised, organically managed grass-fed beef and recipes.
Four packages available the day of the open house focus on giving customers the opportunity to buy a variety of steaks, ground beef and a sampler platter of various cuts at special prices. Other options are available by appointment.

NAPA Auto Care Center joins cancer fight
NAPA Auto Care is partnering in the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and has a goal is to raise $200,000. It has already donated the first $100,000. During the month of May, NAPA will be asking consumers to help match that donation. Residents wishing to help may stop by Koebbe Auto Tech and Tire, 6791 Lakota Lane, Liberty Twp., to obtain a donation envelope.
Make a difference by recycling old phones
HopeLine, Verizon Wireless' exclusive phone recycling and re-use program, accepts wireless phones and accessories in any condition from any manufacturer or service provider at any of the company's Communications Stores. Phones are refurbished for re-use, or recycled in an environmentally sound way. Proceeds from the HopeLine program benefit survivors of domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies, providing essential communication tools through wireless phones and wireless services, and financial grants.

Bachochin donates portion of music sales to CCHMC
At Brent Bachochin's CD Release party on April 18 celebrating his new album "Leaving it All Behind," Brent announced that 10 percent of all CD sales and show bookings in 2008 will be donated to the new Cincinnati Children's Liberty Campus, scheduled to open this August.
Brent made this announcement at Champps in West Chester Twp. Char Mason, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's vice president of Outpatient and Home Care Services, was there to hear his announcement and said, "Brent's generosity is so supportive of the kids and families we serve. We look forward and are excited about the Liberty Campus opening in August and are elated the community shares our enthusiasm."

Nexus Church to speak on race this Sunday
On Sunday, May 18, pastors across the United Church of Christ will be speaking about race in hopes of beginning a conversation across the country. Nexus Church in Liberty Twp. will be one of the churches speaking about this subject. The conversation will be at 10 a.m. at the East Butler County YMCA.

Bashful Ostrich 5K to run on Memorial Day
The eighth annual Bashful Ostrich 5K race and walk will be held at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day morning at the campus of Scarlett Oaks in Sharonville.
This year the event has added a Kids' Fun Run for children ages 3 to 12 and a Diaper Dash for children aged two and under. There is no fee for children, but a donation of $10 can help defray costs.
The Best Dressed Ostrich Award will be given to the registered walker or runner who wears the best ostrich costume while competing.
