Friday and Saturday, May 16-17, will be the Father/Son Retreat at the Bill Rice Ranch in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Sunday, May 18 will be AWANA awards night during the evening service at Kings Mills Baptist Church. This is the final meeting of the year until September. Vacation Bible School Dino Detectives will be every evening June 9-13. Scripture ministry is at 9 a.m. every Tuesday in the Annex.

Surgery

Extras

Alene Bryant reports that her great-grandson, Nathan Ferneding, is recovering from eye surgery on April 24. He is the son of Jim and Tara Ferneding of Kings Mills. The results are looking good. We pray for a speedy recovery.

Baby-sitting grandma

Roxie Burdine traveled to Gahanna, Ohio to baby-sit her grandson, Andrew. Some duties are never done and are from the heart!

Mother/Daughter Banquet

Lillian Sackett attended the Mother/Daughter Banquet at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Mason on April 26. Guest speaker was Mary Singleton and providing music for the event was Cathy Hussman.

Sunday dinner

Lillian Sackett and Pauline Allen had dinner at the Houston Restaurant in Mason after church on Sunday and ran into longtime friend, Mae Munson, who was there having lunch with visiting family.

Warren County Senior Citizens meeting

The Warren County Senior Citizens group held its monthly meeting at the American Legion Hall in Lebanon on May 5 according to Lillian Sackett, who was in attendance.

Hospital

Lillian Sackett reports that her niece's husband, former Kings Mills resident Steve Poynter, is in Kettering Hospital receiving treatments. He and his wife, Cynthia (Culberson), reside in Carlisle. Please keep Steve and the family in your prayers.

With the Merrells

On April 25, Marta's niece Abby Torsell stopped in from Columbus for dinner with Mark and Marta. On Saturday evening, Mark and Marta went to dinner at Viva Tequila with former Kings Mills residents Gary and Laura Bohn. Joining them were Randy and Robin Drake and Tim and Sally Healy. On Sunday, Marta traveled to Hamilton to visit Wint and Nervona Martin and their children Syndey and Shelby. Afterwards Marta stopped to see Wint's mother Phyllis, also of Hamilton.

Lexington birthday

Dan and Linda Pickard and their daughter, Melinda, and her children Kelsey, Shelby and Hunter traveled to Lexington, Ky. for the 85th birthday celebration on Dan's mother Virginia on April 26. There were 85 family members present from Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana and, of course, Kentucky. Dan and Linda's son Louie also was in attendance. He was the North Carolina connection. Elijah Keith of New Albany, Ind. was there and he is Virginia's only surviving sibling. The occasion was held at The Springs in Lexington.
