Deceased Kings student to be honored Thursday

Staff Report

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

"Kyle's Wall" will be dedicated at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 at Kings High School as a memorial to Kyle D. Reaves, a student and lacrosse player who lost his life in a swimming accident in July 2006.

Weather permitting, the dedication will take place at the wall which is adjacent to the north parking lot at the athletic fields that border Kings Mills and Columbia Roads. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved into the high school cafeteria.

Extras

Over the past two years hundreds of people have dedicated their time, money and work to assure that "Kyle's Wall" became a reality. The Kings Boosters Club and lacrosse program spearheaded the effort.

"Immediately after Kyle's death, the community came together to find a way to help build the lacrosse program and honor his memory," District Spokeswoman Lindsay Braud said. "Because of his enthusiasm for the lacrosse program, building 'Kyle's Wall' became the rallying point for that effort."

The dedication will be followed by the final varsity and junior varsity lacrosse games of the season.
