Police: Treasurer stole church money
Maineville man had served in treasurer position since 2002, according to complaint.

MIDDLETOWN — The treasurer of a Middletown church is charged with felony theft and telecommunications fraud for allegedly stealing $9,000 from the church.
Donald Gambill, 51, of Maineville, who was arraigned Thursday, May 1, in Middletown Municipal Court, is accused of taking money from the Church of God at 911 Charles St. in Middletown.

Donald GambillAccording to a report filed in February with Middletown police, Gambill allegedly had been taking church funds since 2003.
Gambill was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Middletown City Jail. He was released by the court Thursday, according to Middletown jailers.
The complaint, filed by church trustee Junior Kilburn of Bellbrook, alleges that Gambill had transferred money from the church's bank account into his personal account and had made his utility and car payments using the church's account.
Gambill had taken over the treasuruer position at the church in 2002, according to the police report.
The complaint also alleges that Gambill had made cash withdrawals from the church's bank account and that he also had given church funds to two women who are former church board members.
