In the interview, Rodriguez described how she, her brother, Roger Whitten, 18, and Michael Douglass, 18, got to know Debnath over two days while staying at Tri-County Inn. While drinking with him in his room in the early hours of Nov 12, Rodriguez described how the older man first offered the three $10,000 to kill his brother-in-law and wife, then started flirting with her.
"He tried to get real close to me," she said. "He tried to disrespect me, too."
The situation got worse when the three tried to leave. The fight escalated, and all three suspects pulled out knives, she said.
"Everybody was involved," said Rodriguez on the tape. "Nobody was left out— everybody was involved."
At the end of the two-hour interview, Beiser asked Rodriguez if she regretted what happened.
'I think everybody wishes it didn't happen," she said.
