Steve Koebbe is celebrating two milestones this year — 30 years as an automotive professional and 10 years since he opened Koebbe Auto Tech and Tire in Liberty Twp.

Located at 6791 Lakota Lane, next to Lakota East High School, the business specializes in engine, computer and fuel injection diagnostic work for automotive, light truck and fleet repair.

Last month, NAPA tapped the business to become an official NAPA AutoCare Center, giving Koebbe the ability to offer extended warranties serviceable throughout the NAPA Autocare system.

"So if you're traveling in North Carolina and something happens, and it was a part that we may have installed, you can take it to a NAPA AutoCare Center there and they'll take care of it," Koebbe said.

He said his past history of teaching as an automotive instructor was "very valuable" in staying current with technological advances in the automobile industry.

"That kind of keeps me involved and engaged and keeps me current with later model cars because they're becoming more complicated and sophisticated," he said. "If it was just changing parts, I wouldn't be in this business anymore."

A Liberty/West Chester Twp. area resident for 22 years, Koebbe said he enjoys the relationships he has developed with customers.

"Basically, I'm working on my neighbors' cars," he said.

John Muennich, manager of DWF Wholesale in West Chester Twp., said he values Koebbe's integrity because he does what is necessary to keep DWF's fleet of 12 vans on the road daily without any breakdowns.

"He pretty much does that flawlessly," Muennich said. "I can't remember when I ever had to call a hook to bring a van in because it broke down and that's largely because Steve and Koebbe Auto Tech do the routine maintenance, flag things that are problems waiting to happen and solve them before they become problems."
